I am a university student at the University of Saskatchewan and am originally from Regina Saskatchewan.
At the U of S, I am working on a Bachelor of Middle Years Education and I have a plan to complete a Practical Applied Arts certificate or an Entrepreneurship certificate after my Bachelor of Education.
I have a passion for the arts and it has always been a part of my life. I began dancing at the age of four along with other activities and was always pushed towards art and the arts. I found an interest in watercolour paintings, printmaking, photography, pottery, design, and sketching. These are some of the many things that brought my interest forward for creating my own business.
Another piece that contributed to starting my business was that I ran a business when I attended my second high school. I was a part of the Entrepreneurship class and started my own company in which I made sweaters with positive messages and 10% of the profits supported the Canadian Mental Health Association Regina location. My business won an award at the end of the year and I won an entrepreneurship award as well!
Now you may be wondering where the name of my company came from as well. I found it difficult transitioning to high school as I never had many friends due to being so busy and keeping to myself along with being bullied. So when I transferred the high school the bullying continued and worsened. I found it difficult to attend school and remain happy throughout my time at my first high school. But the summer after my tenth grade year I received some of the best news I had ever gotten. I had been accepted to transfer to a different high school and my brother had brought me the forms to fill out as a surprise when I found out.
Transferring schools was one of the best decisions I had ever made and made a huge impact on my mental health as well as where I am today. This was all because I remained hopeful that things would one day get better. And even today after moving away for university, things only continue to get better and I am able to connect with other students in the College of Education who I can connect to because of their similar stories.
